We can offer you tips on
how to be more environmentally aware as it concerns your marketing
projects through design and printing tips. Studio
B can evaluate your materials not only from an ecological standpoint, but
also to increase effectiveness and cost efficiency.
Below are just a few general
ideas and suggestions, but we can offer exact solutions for
your particular project and needs:
- Alternative type font or document size to increase
legibility while decreasing page count or
document size
- Getting multiple purposes out of one design piece
- Custom ordering sheet sizes to reduce or eliminate
paper waste
- Downsizing or possibly eliminating bleeds for cost
and paper savings
- Targeting the audience to maximinze effectiveness
and purchasing targeted, current mailing lists
- PDF electronic proofing for both design and printing
proofs; using digital photos
- Using recyced paper when possible; when using virgin
paper, consider using FSC or SFI certified printers and papers
- Using non-petroleum based inks; fewer ink colors
and possible less ink coverage
- For varnishing, try using aqueous varnishes rather
than petroleum varnishes
- Designing electronic letterhead and other forms
It is a challenge to
keep up with the latest developments in the field of eco-friendly design
and print. Certifications have made this a bit easier. See our Links,
Resources & Terminology section for more info.
And, we do practice
what we preach. . .in the office we turn
off any equipment not being used, unplug sometimes,
use 100% recycled laser paper and
keep used paper for printing draft copies or scratch paper; recycle
bubble-wrap and popcorn that comes in shipping at the local shipping
centers.
